After speaking with a lovely, and helpful secretary at the Airport Commission for SFO, I see the only remedy for my issue is another boycott. Yes, another boycott. In fact, all Blacks should boycott SFO over San Francisco honoring the late Harvey Milk.

It was bad enough; the San Francisco Board of Supervisors ignored the loud cries not to bestow such an honor on Milk, which includes, SFO is against placing anyone’s name on the airport prominently. Also, past experience tells me they will ignore my Open Letter to the Board.

According to an SF Examiner report, “With the design process not going smoothly, Supervisor Hillary Ronen last month introduced legislation to mandate design elements. She called the initial design ‘insulting.’” Her reasoning is its not big enough.

In doing so, the supervisor dismissed the possibility that honoring Harvey Milk, who was friends with mass murderer, and cult leader, Rev. Jim Jones. Jones is chiefly responsible for the deaths of over 900 Black San Franciscans in “The Jonestown massacre” on November 18, 1978.

This insulting honor to Milk; just because he is still a San Francisco gay icon, is a dishonor to the 900 Blacks who died at the direction of the man many say got Harvey Milk elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977.

If the LGBTQ community want to honor Harvey Milk for what he did to advance their rights at the time, I have no issue. But for members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to pander to the LGBTQ community at the expense of the SF Black community, I see a boycott where the NAACP should be the lead torchbearer, not pallbearer.
